Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Wednesday’s (April 1) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm.
Lives hang in the balance following a gripping showdown between escaped convict Clare Devine (Gemma Bissix) and her granddad Froggy Black (John Middleton) with not one but two gunshots ringing out.
Clare, as viewers know, has been behind bars for months after Froggy turned her into the police. She swore she’d get her revenge on the patriarch one day and, after managing to secure her freedom and escaping from prison, she made a beeline straight for the village in order to keep her word.
Froggy was taken aback to set his sights on his granddaughter and urged her to turn herself in, delivering a heartfelt speech about how Grace Black’s (Tamara Wall) death made him see things differently as he didn’t want to lose another relative in Clare.
Clare was taken aback by his emotional plea, breaking down as she reiterated that she cannot go back to prison.
She had seemingly forgiven Froggy for turning her in and was willing to let bygones be bygones – that is, until she realised that he’d phoned the police.
Sensing her freedom slipping away once more, the schemer got into an altercation with Froggy, who tried to overpower and restrain her, revealing that this path she’s on ‘can only end one way’.
The two characters had a sudden brainwave and, spying Grace’s gun sitting on the sideboard, they both attempted to get their hands on it.
The identity of who did so remains to be seen but, as the show took us outside of the flat, two loud gunshots could be heard ringing out from within – with one character dropping to the floor.
The question is: who has been shot? And was it fatal?
Clare makes it out of the showdown alive – that much we know given that we saw her in the Spring Trailer.

Froggy, however, is thought to be leaving Hollyoaks. Has he met a grisly end at the hands of Clare? She did promise revenge on her grandad so has she followed through and claimed another victim?
